Assistant to the Guide
Elementary 6-12 Classroom
The assistant is to provide any classroom help required of the lead guide. This includes supervising children and interacting with parents as they arrive/dismiss, managing the classroom in a manner that allows the guide to focus on teaching one on one or in small groups, light housekeeping including animal and plant care, assisting children in completing projects, inspiring children with meaningful interactions, and redirecting as needed. The assistant also helps in preparation of classroom materials, planning, observation of students, etc. The assistant does not introduce new concepts or teach introductory lessons, but assists in creating a classroom environment that allows the teacher to remain focused during lessons/presentations with a small group of children. A more detailed list of job responsibilities is given at the interview or available upon request prior to the interview process.
About Mooresville Montessori
We are located in East Limestone, Alabama (35613). Mooresville Montessori is a growing community of homeschooling families who use the traditional Montessori method to educate our children. As we grow, we are looking for additional support in our classrooms. Currently, our program is for 6 years through approximately 12 years in the traditional Montessori program and a mentor program for adolescents middle school and up.

This begins as a part time position spring 2025, based on training hours.

Completion of training will be required to continue position full time in fall.

Full Time begins late summer 2025 on Mondays-Thursdays 8:30am to 2:15pm.

Small classroom of homeschooled children ages 6 to approx. 12.
Requirements:

No prior teaching experience required

At least 3 references, 3 professional preferred

Background check required prior to start of employment

positive discipline training and Montessori orientation to be paid by the employer to be completed by summer 2025.

Employment contract required prior to start of training.

follow AMI guidelines in classroom supervision
Compensation
-
$18 an hour starting pay. Increases based on longevity and performance.

Health Insurance not available at this time.

Fall Break, Christmas Break, and Spring Break are paid.

All observed holidays that fall on regular school days are paid time off.

Summers off unpaid. Teachers come back to work mid August each year and typically have the option to work through June for summer program. (July and half of August off)

We currently do not have childcare available for younger siblings at this time, but plan to implement younger age groups starting in 2027. Please periodically check back in with us if that is something you need.
We are also looking for AMI certified lead instructors in other age groups!
