CAN I SCHEDULE A VISIT?

Yes! Prospective Parent Meetings begin January 20, 2025. This meeting allows you to see the classroom, learn about the details of our program, and ask questions in an intimate setting. We do not allow new family visits/tours outside of these meetings.  Enrolled families are encouraged to be a part of our program on a regular basis, as with most homeschool groups.

WHAT AGES ARE ACCEPTED?

Chidren must be six years of age by September 30, 2025. Our program is for children ages six to approximately 12 years. We also offer a study group for teens, overseen by staff and parents. We hope to add a primary (3-6 program) in the next three years for families who children are not yet ready for elementary.

DO YOU HANDLE EVERYTHING ABOUT HOMESCHOOLING?

No. As with all homeschooling situations, the parents are the ultimate decision makers when it comes to providing a well rounded education for their child. We do not assign grades or require bookwork in a traditional sense until children are out of elementary.  We teach small group lessons, monitor your child's progress/work, and determine if the skill has been mastered or not. We track mastery and progress in an online format that parents are able to view. We also communicate both electronically and in person with parents regarding progress of individual students. We host parent observation days and conferences. Older students will also host parent conferences and other events throughout the year.

Mooresville Montessori does not follow traditional grade levels.  We follow AMI math and reading lessons outlined by Maria Montessori, with topics based on ages 6-12. Work level is adjusted for children who are not quite ready for K level work and for children with learning differences, such as dyslexia. We do focus on working with hands on materials for children to be successful with math concepts such as large addition, multiplication, division, pre-algebra, and geometry. In our 2 day programs, most families choose to supplement with other programs at home with complementary curriculum such as Singapore math or Montessori math.  We do offer guidance and recommendations on practicing at home for students on no school days. However, there is no assigned homework. This is up to the parents discretion.  The choice is yours for your child's curriculum and/or extra curricular activities.

We will provide more details about this area of our program at our open house, meet and greet, and preview nights. We look forward to meeting you soon!
